Anne Freytag ~ Program Director
When I started teaching at this age level, in 1971, I never thought I would still be at it 40 years later. I took out time to raise my family, but have been at Saint John's since my youngest came with me in 1987. I truly believe each child is a gift from God and view this time with your child as an opportunity to help create the foundation for all future learning. Our goal is to meet each child's spiritual, physical and emotional needs. I plan to be here, as long as when I unlock the door in the morning I am still excited to be here and cannot wait to greet the children.

Mrs. McGuinnes - Mrs. Collea Monday - Friday 4 & 5 year olds
We believe that "if a child lives with tolerance, that child will learn to be patient. If a child lives with encouragement, that child will learn to be confident. If a child lives with approval that child learns to love themselves. If a child lives with acceptance and friendship then that child will learn to find love in the world". Therefore it is our mission to create a classroom which is built on tolerance, acceptance and friendship and surrounded by only encouragement and approval. Our goal is to embrace every child who enters our doors with these qualities so that they may not only last them throughout their journey of learning but throughout their lifetime as well.

Monday - Wednesday- Thursday 4 & 5 year olds
When I started
teaching at this age level, in 1971, I never thought I would still be
at it 39 years later. I took out time to raise my family, but have
been at Saint John's since my youngest came with me in 1987. For the past 4 years I have had the opportunity to share all of this with my granddaughter and refresh my total love for what I do each day. I truly
believe each child is a gift from God and view this time with your
child as an opportunity to help create the foundation for all future
learning. Our goal is to meet each child's spiritual, physical and
emotional needs. Learning should be fun and seem like child's play to three and four year olds. Learning lasts a lifetime and a positive, loving environment filled with music, books and play is the best way for children to begin that journey. This approach is as important at home as it is in school. We need committed teachers and parents who love to learn and they will continue to grow. I plan to be here, as long as when I unlock the door
in the morning I am still excited to be here and cannot wait to greet
the children.

Mrs. Heselton - Mrs. Putrello Monday -Tuesday- Wednesday-Thursday 4 & 5 year olds
What I hope every child gains from our class is a real appreciation of what school is like and that he/she develops a positive attitude toward school. We have daily routines, but we are always flexible so as to adjust to different abilities and skill levels. Children will have many years of academics and structure ahead of them, so I believe four-year olds should concentrate on interacting with teachers and friends and having fun! Music and reading stories are an imporant part of our day. Children can learn and have fun at the same time. We bring a love of children and a dedication to their welfare to St. John's."

Tuesday - Thursday
3 Year Olds
I believe that if you give children praise for their smallest accomplishments they will strive to accomplish bigger tasks. The quality of time you spend with your child means more to them than the quantity of time. A rested nights' sleep, a healthy breakfast and a hydrated body are the key ingredients for a child's successful day at school. I treat each one of my students as if they were my child. I am foremost a mother and secondly a teacher. Children will make many "friends" in their lifetime and although it is important to be friendly with your child, they need for you to be a "parent" most of all.

Mrs. Carhart - Mrs. Putrello and Mrs. Zimowski
Monday - Tuesday- Wednesday-Thursday 3 year olds
My name is Mary Carhart and I am a teacher of a three year old class at St. John's. I consider it both a pleasure and a privilege to be able to share this chapter of your child's life. This age group is a joy to teach. I truly believe each child is a gift from God and that the growth and development of a three year old is a miracle. In our classroom, we try our best to ensure that each child feel special. Our goals are to instill a love of learning, to experience the enjoyment of being with friends and to show kindness--traits that we hope will continue throughout our student's life. Attempting to see the world through the eyes of a three year old child better enables us to anticipate and meet the needs of each individual student in our class.
